He Gave Her Up Too Easily.

    The dad in the book Gaston is a good dad overall; however, I think he could have been better. He lives in Paris, France and rarely gets to see his daughter. When his daughter actually came to Paris, I think that he gave up on his daughter too easily. In the book, it sounded like he didn’t care about her that much.

    I think he didn’t care that much because of a couple reasons. First of all, when the girl demanded that she wanted a bad peach, he got her one, but he left her all alone in his house. She’s only six years old! If I was six and my mom or dad went somewhere, they would’ve taken me with them because they would be worried if they left me alone at home. Also when the little six year old girl said she was leaving to New York to go to another party, all he said was “Oh. O.K.”

    The girl’s dad should have tried harder so he could keep his daughter. The girl only stayed at her dad's house for about three days. After that she left. That is a sign that the dad wasn’t good or the girl had something else to do that she thought was more important than her dad. He also could have done better convincing her to stay. Saying “ You can stay if you want.” is not enough to convince the girl to stay. He also could’ve had a better relationship with his daughter.

    If the dad had a better relationship, a lot of things could have been better. At first, they thought of each other as strangers. That is not very progressing for a dad if he loved his daughter. He also could have convinced the girl to not squish the bug. Since she was in a better relationship with her mom, the mom said to crush the bug, so she did. Also the dad didn’t play games with her. That would of gotten them to know each other better. Instead of watching a bug come out of a peach, they could of played together or at least, get to know each other better.

        The dad was a lot of things, but perfect. He had cons like the ones I said in my paragraphs. If he fixed all these things, he could have been a much better father and his daughter would’ve liked him even more. That is why I think the father could have been better.
